Every new year brings new resolutions. Resolutions to diet, break an old habit, start a new one, save some money, or any one of the myriad of changes folks strive to implement in their lives. For 2018, our resolution is a bit different, and we’re certainly excited about it! We are happy to announce we can now capture 6K resolution with our latest native aerial camera, the DJI Zenmuse X7 accompanied with a complete line of specially-designed aerial lens (16mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm).
Of course, shooting ultra-high resolution is nothing new to our team; we’ve been lifting RED® cameras capable of 8K resolution for some time now. However, what’s unique about the X7, is it’s the most capable and advanced aerial cinematography camera currently available.
What does that mean to you, our clients?
The simple answer is…more dynamic color range, great low-light performance, and higher resolution video and still photos.
Being the technology nerds that we are, in case you’re also interested, here’s the complete description right from the horse’s mouth:
The Zenmuse X7 is a compact Super 35 camera with an integrated gimbal made for high-end filmmaking that delivers stunning resolution and image quality. Its compatibility with the Inspire 2 offers the best in next-level professional aerial cinematography. A 24 MP CMOS sensor rated at 14 stops of dynamic range preserves astonishing detail and offers both 6K CinemaDNG and 5.2K Apple ProRes with support for continuous RAW burst shooting at 20 fps and 24 MP stills. The X7 also introduces the DL-Mount, the world’s first integrated aerial lens mount that allows switching between four available prime lenses quickly.
We’ve been doing testing and are very excited about the new possibilities this camera allows us to provide our clients. Shooting ultra high resolution offers more flexibility in post-production, while still ensuring the highest quality final product. Below you’ll see one of the test shots we conducted in downtown Toledo, Ohio showcasing the camera’s low-light capabilities.
