TAM Behind the Shoot: Glass City Live

Bird’s-Eye View of the Beat: Capturing History at the First-Ever Glass City Live Concert

This past weekend, Toledo Aerial Media had the incredible opportunity to capture a historic moment from the sky: the first-ever concert held at the University of Toledo’s iconic Glass Bowl Stadium.

The Glass City Live Concert was headlined by the Zac Brown Band, with opening acts Dustin Lynch, Luke Grimes, and Gaelic Storm. With thousands of fans packed into the stadium, it was a night of live music, electric energy, and unforgettable visuals. And from the air, we had the best seat in the house.

Scouting the Skies

As with any major public event, preparation was key. On Friday, our team visited the Glass Bowl to scout safe zones for takeoff and landing. Because drones cannot legally fly over crowds—unless using specialized FPV drones—we identified a strategic “dead zone” just to the far right of the stage. This gave us both the space and the clearance we needed to fly safely without compromising our shot list.

Concert Day: Aerial Coverage in Action

Saturday arrived with clear skies and packed gear. We set up early to capture time-lapse shots as the stadium filled, then launched into a full aerial sweep of the venue. As the crowd grew and the lights began to flash, our drones were in the sky documenting every moment—from sweeping overhead views to detailed angles that showcased just how electric the night truly was.

“Capturing the energy, crowd, and stunning visuals from above allowed us to showcase the spirit of the event in a unique and powerful way. It was an honor for TAM to be part of something that brings the community together in such a dynamic setting.”
Phil Meyers, Principal Partner, Toledo Aerial Media

“It was super cool seeing the University use the FPV drone for the concert. I think it provides a really cool and unique viewing experience. The Glass Bowl was packed, it looked awesome flying around seeing people have a great time. It was a blast flying and I’m sure everyone there was enjoying the concert!”
Josh Goodman, FPV Drone Pilot

From the rhythmic wave of fans to the glow of lights bouncing off the crowd, the footage told a powerful visual story of a milestone moment for Toledo.

A Behind-the-Scenes First

This wasn’t just a first for the Glass Bowl—it was also a first for members of our own team. For Autumn Stevens, TAM’s Marketing and Project Coordinator, this marked her first time covering a concert with us:

“Not only was this the first concert at the Glass Bowl, it was the first concert I covered with TAM. Their professionalism and creativeness has always been the best, but seeing it in person alongside them really showed that. Now it's my turn to help push out all the content to help Toledo get even more attendance at the next Glass City Live concert if they host it again.”

Why Aerial Storytelling Matters

At Toledo Aerial Media, we’re passionate about telling stories from the sky that simply can’t be seen from the ground. With every flight, we aim to elevate events like this—not just visually, but emotionally. When you can see the full scale of an experience, you can truly feel it.

We’re proud to have helped document such a landmark night in Toledo's entertainment history and look forward to what’s next for the Glass Bowl, the city, and the stage.
