TAM Takes Commercial Drone Services to New Heights

TAM Pilot

Drones. It seems they’re everywhere nowadays. While picnicking in your local park, sunbathing at the beach, or visiting any other outdoor space you’re almost certain to see one of these small unmanned aircraft buzzing around overhead, piloted by an amateur RC aficionado somewhere on the ground. In fact, anyone can acquire a modestly priced consumer-grade drone either online or from the nearest big-box retailer and soon have it in the air.

Drones have become so commonplace that individuals or businesses seeking commercial drone services often assume that anyone who owns a drone and knows how to fly it can fulfill their needs. However, relying on an amateur drone operator to do the work of a professional can be a costly misstep that not only yields an inferior product but also exposes you and your organization to unnecessary liability.

What your project needs is a team of highly knowledgeable and experienced remote pilots, and that’s exactly what you’ll get when you choose to work with TAM—a creative and technical drone-based media company headquartered in Toledo, Ohio that provides services all across the United States and internationally.

Here are just some of the reasons you should trust TAM when your project’s success demands the perfect aerial perspective:

We’re FAA certified and fully insured

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controls the national airspace system and dictates all laws and regulations governing the use of drones. Operating drones in violation of the FAA’s rules subjects the operator as well as the “hiring body” (you) to significant legal liability. To protect not just ourselves but also our valued clients, TAM does it right. Our operators are FAA-certified remote pilots, and we stay abreast of all regulatory changes affecting our industry so you can be confident your project stays on solid legal ground.

Furthermore, while not required to do so, we spend a significant amount each year to fully insure our pilots and fleet (aviation and automotive), so people and property are protected throughout our operations.

We invest in technology and client success

Forget about the consumer-level drones you’re familiar with. TAM invests in professional-quality equipment ranging in price from around a couple thousand dollars for our least expensive drone to upwards of tens of thousands of dollars for our largest, industrial-grade drones. Bottom line: we’re fully equipped to meet any drone-based need you or your business might have.

We also keep your project’s success top of mind at all times. Starting with your initial project inquiry, we exercise due diligence to identify any restrictions that might affect operations, determine whether any additional authorizations are necessary, and choose the equipment best suited to your needs. We don’t just arrive onsite and figure things out “on the fly.”

We’re full-time frequent flyers

TAM is the only full-time commercial drone service in the Toledo area. We’re not “weekend warriors,” and we don’t have other careers competing for our time. When you trust your project to TAM, you can be confident that you have our undivided attention.

We combine creative and technical services

Whether you need creative services, technical services, or a little of both, TAM has you covered. In addition to doing creative work for marketing campaigns and promotional videos, as well as providing cutting-edge aerial videography, aerial cinematography, aerial photography, and immersive 360º photo and video, we offer prints and wall wraps of our breathtaking aerial images that will provide artistic flair in your home or office for many years to come.

On the technical side, we have all the specialized equipment and expertise necessary to provide services that include (among others) licensed professional aerial surveying, aerial mapping and data acquisition, aerial inspections, certified thermal imaging, progress photos and videos, precision aerial imaging, public safety/first responder training, and drone consulting.

We put safety first

Flying drones comes with certain inherent risks, but here at TAM we take every possible precaution to ensure the safety of our clients, team, and anyone else our operations might impact. Among these precautions is investing in drone technology with built-in safety features such as Return-to-Home. With this feature, if we lose connection to one of our drones in flight, it will ascend immediately to a preset altitude and automatically navigate back to a safe landing point.

Other measures TAM has in place to ensure operational safety include monitoring civilian and military aircraft bands and utilizing flight tracking on our phones to ensure we’re aware of any aircraft in the project vicinity, having a visual observer (VO) on site to serve as a second set of eyes and ears for the remote pilot in command (RPIC) and to help prevent pilot distraction (e.g. from curious onlookers), the use of closed-circuit communication among all the team members, and the use of all necessary and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

We are true aerial experts

Perhaps most important, our FAA-certified remote pilots have extensive experience operating drones in all kinds of environments and locations, for example major construction sites bustling with heavy equipment, hectic production sets for commercials and TV shows, massive wind farms, solar arrays, hydroelectric dams, clean-energy plants, and virtually any other type of commercial or private setting you can visualize. Close-quarters indoor flight is also in our wheelhouse. Simply put, projects that might intimidate other operators are all in a day’s work for TAM.
